Village water pipes to go with the flow
The semi-annual process of flushing out local watermains has commenced, with Public Works crews starting at the highest points of the Village and working down.
This process is a required part of Lions Bay's drinking water permit. According to the Village website, the water is tested for turbidity and chlorine content as a part of the process. Flushing also helps clear pipes of organic, mineral and rust deposits that can clog or slow the flow.
According to last Friday's Village Update, the job is scheduled to be completed this week. Today, crews are working on Sunset, Timbertop, Mountain and Bayview, followed by both Oceanviews, Creekview, Panorama and Highview.
Tuesday the schedule includes Upper Bayview, Bayview Place, Crosscreek, Centre, Isleview, and all of Brunswick. On Wednesday, the crew moves below the highway and will tackle Soundview, Cloudview, Seaview and Lions Bay Ave. On Thursday, the plan is to finish up Kelvin Grove, Tidewater, Periwinkle and Sweetwater.
Public Works staff recommends that residents avoid water use between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on the day flushing is taking place in your area. After the crew moves on, they suggest running the taps in your house until the water runs clear.
