Public Works successor still not named
A busy schedule marks the first full work week of the new year, with both a special meeting and a Committee of the Whole (COW) meeting set for Tuesday evening.
Council was unable to form a quorum for the two hastily-called special meetings in December.
None of the items on the agendas of the December 17 and 19 meetings appears on the slate for the upcoming Tuesday's meetings.
The December special meeting agenda items all focused on Lions Bay housing and development, including a report authored by RWPAS land-use planning consultant Eric White.
Work is scheduled to resume in early January at the site of the deadly Battani Creek landslide.
Meanwhile, discussion of the long-delayed Lions Bay Beach Park project does not appear on either agenda. Nor does any update with regard to scheduling a rebuild of the jetty that protects Lions Bay Beach.
The audited financial statements and Annual General Report for 2023, both due back in May, have not yet made an appearance. While the 2025 Budget is still under negotiation, no Strategic Planning meeting for the next five-year plan has been announced.
Director of Public Works Karl Buhr retires this month, but no successor for this important role has yet been announced.
Topics on the agenda at tomorrow's COW meeting include topics for this year's Union of BC Municipalities meeting, and staff reports addressing the budget and a garbage bylaw amendment. The special meeting will address issues arising from the Battani Creek landslide.
