Could be subject to further renewal
Lions Bay Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Ross Blackwell says the state of local emergency (SOLE) declared following a deadly landslide earlier this month will continue until at least January 12.
"This is to ensure that all eligible clean-up is completed, and the subject area deemed to have an acceptable level of risk as determined by the geotechnical engineers," he told The Watershed today, adding it could be further extended.
Awkward mid-week statutory holidays this year, coupled with the complexity of the clean-up from the Battani Creek landslide, have led to some confusion regarding Village Office opening hours.
Blackwell confirmed that Lions Bay Village office will remain closed until January 2. He added that the Emergency Operations Centre, which has taken over office facilities for the duration of the emergency, will be fully operational on Monday, January 6.
He added that the structural safety of the two homes on Goldenrod Avenue, both still under Evacuation Order, is the responsibility of the home owners as the work does not fall within the parameters of the emergency response efforts.

Thanks at year’s end KC for your timely, relevant and focused reporting on issues important to residents of this beautiful village.
Nowhere else outside of gossip is this available to residents caring for the quality of life, safety, and future of the village.
Sometimes, personally, I would love to see a more critical commentary on the work of our elected officials, who, in my humble opinion have quarreled more than accomplishing anything,
jave wasted incredible amounts of money and have not performed on anything they promised when canvassing for our votes.
This takes nothing away from my respect of your neutral, unbiased, focused and factual reporting.
Looking forward to your continued work, all the best for a great 2025,
cheers
