April hummingbird edition

Twenty years ago this month, Lions Bay's then-community newspaper The Seagull published a letter to the editor from resident Lawrence Ruskin, a long-term resident and wildlife advocate. The letter (below) offers a correction to a piece run earlier in the year regarding the optimal ratio of sugar to water in hummingbird feeders.

All these years later, a check HERE indicates that Ruskin’s recipe is still spot-on. Click through to find out everything you ever wanted to know about hummingbirds.
These days, of course, Lions Bay is a Bird-Friendly municipality. (We'll be hearing from them tomorrow, for Earth Day.) Find out more at the Lions Bay Bird Friendly website HERE.
