Examining our past through an Indigenous lens
Jody Wilson-Raybould (Puglass) and co-author Dr. Roshan Sanesh will be launching their new book Reconciling History: A Story of Canada this Sunday at the West Vancouver Memorial Library (WVML). The book offers a unique perspective on the history of Canada, as told through the voices of both Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.
Wilson-Raybould has served as the Member of Parliament for Vancouver Granville, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence, in addition to her career as a lawyer and advocate for Indigenous peoples. She's the author of two bestselling books, “Indian” in the Cabinet: Speaking Truth to Power (2021) and From Where I Stand: Rebuilding Indigenous Nations for a Stronger Canada (2019).
Danesh is a lawyer and educator who has worked for more than 20 years as an advocate for Indigenous rights and reconciliation in Canada. He served as the special counsel on reconciliation to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, and advised the Government of British Columbia on the adoption of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
The event runs from 7-9 p.m. October 27 at the library and is free, although registration is required. More details can be found HERE.
