Join us in recognizing our reslient rainbow communities
June is the start of Pride Season in Canada, and while most events in the Lower Mainland take place in July and August, here at The Watershed, we recognize the contributions and resilience of Two-Spirited, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Asexual, Intersex, Plus (2SLBGTQAI+) communities year-round.
Pride has been celebrated in Canada since 1973, and events in this region occur throughout the summer. Here's a sampling of ways you can mark the contributions of the 2SLBGTQAI+ communities in Lions Bay and beyond this summer:
Pride at the Pier: August 2, 3 –10 p.m., North Vancouver Shipyards:
North Shore Pride becomes a family event at the Shipyards, with Pride celebrations coinciding with the Night Market, which means comedy, drag and musical performances along with a beer garden, food trucks and more.
VanPrideFest, August 3-4, Concord Pacific Place:
Family-friendly live music, fierce drag performances, local vendors and food trucks. A weekend of celebration and entertainment that everyone can enjoy!
Vancouver Pride Parade, August 4. (Route Map Here).
All the usual colourful floats, marching bands and community groups will roll through Vancouver, filling the city with rainbows. Not to be missed!
