Meet Canine Celebrity Sheff

Great Pyrenees is a gentle giant

This month's Coastal Canine is Sheff, who tops the scales at 140 pounds and is a bit of a local celebrity.

With his fluffy white coat and towering size, he catches the attention of everyone he meets.

Sheff's family love their friendly giant, and with his lineage as a guarder of mountain flocks, he in turn takes his job of watching over his family and his home very seriously.

His favourite perch is the family deck, where he keeps a vigilant eye on eagles, crows, and anything else that passes by. However, his powerful bark means sometimes he is sent inside, much to his disappointment.

Sheff’s people note that his personality is as unique as his size. Unlike most dogs, he prefers sweets over meat. As a puppy, he devoured an entire blueberry cake but left a nearby bowl of meatballs untouched.

Despite his formidable appearance, Sheff is the perfect family dog. His family says that he loves being a living, breathing pillow for the children, and patiently lets them cuddle and play. He is a comforting presence, giving the family a sense of calm after their many moves from country to country.

While Sheff may not always be the quietest companion, he’s certainly the fluffiest and most lovable. Enjoy your next cupcake, Sheff!
