Meet August Coastal Canine Bolt

Updated: Aug 5

Nunavut-born, Ontario raised, but happiest in BC Forests

Bolt, with his pal Goji at his side.

Bolt's origin story starts in Nunavut, where he was rescued with his big brother Thunder.  His family adopted him near Ottawa from the nonprofit organization that rescued him.  As a puppy, Bolt used to be really scared of other dogs, but he's become much more confident as he's grown into a big boy.

Being a northern dog, Bolt loves the ice and snow – he's not afraid of the cold. Back in Ontario, there'd be nights in the negative double digits where he'd insist on sleeping outside!  Lions Bay doesn't have as much of the snow and ice Bolt loves, but other things like the beautiful forests and ocean more than make up for it. He's also made a best friend here in the village – Goji, a fellow northern dog and only a few months older. The two are inseparable and love hanging out together.

When it comes to cuisine, Bolt has a slightly too well-developed taste for human food,  with a special fondness for cheesecake and croissants. He often holds out all day to see what offerings he can get from his family before he reluctantly turns to his own dog food at night. He is also a chicken-eating expert. His family thinks he might be mostly made of chicken, so if you hear him cluck, you'll know why.

Have a chicken nugget on us, Bolt!
