It didn't feel like it for most of today, but according to Environment Canada, Lions Bay had the highest temperature in Canada yesterday at 9.7 degrees Celsius, tying with White Rock.

For comparison, the coldest spot in BC was measured at the Cranbrook airport at -16.2 C. The coldest spot in Canada was -40 C, with the reading taken at the Stony Rapids Airport in Saskatchewan.

Lions Bay temperature readings are measured at the weather station on the Pam Rocks, in the middle of Howe Sound (Átl’ka7tsem).

Last year, we set a record on the other end of the spectrum.

On January 12, 2024, Lions Bay temperatures marked a record low for the day as Arctic air masses dropped the temperature to -15.4 C. This broke the previous record of -12.8°C set back in 2007.
