The beating blades of a helicopter signalled an evening rescue last night as Lions Bay Search and Rescue (LBSAR) helped bring an injured hiker down the mountain just before nightfall.

We might be approaching the longest day of the year, but the mountain trails are still snow-covered. LBSAR Manager Ed Langford reported that an injured hiker and his companion had to be extricated by air.

"The subject had a significantly dislocated shoulder after a 50-foot slide on hard spring snow," said Langford. He added that the injured hiker and his partner were flown safely off the mountain and delivered to BC Ambulance service.

A reminder that these rescue services are provided without question and without charge. Donations to help replace LBSAR equipment and gear can be made HERE.
