Fundraising event for Helping Hands Squamish returns February 22

Get out your toques and mittens – for the second year in a row, Squamish Helping Hands is inviting you to help raise money on the Coldest Night of the Year.
The event is designed as a family-friendly evening walk to help raise funds to support the Squamish Helping Hands Society. It runs from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, starting (and finishing) at Junction Park on Cleveland Avenue in Squamish.
Event director Michelle Cronier says the money raised goes toward providing warm beds, hot meals, school breakfasts and lunches and community food hampers to the community’s most vulnerable folks.
Last year's inaugural event raised an impressive $83,097, which was four times the national average for a first year location, and they are hoping to beat that figure this year.
"The money we raise will provide shelter to at-risk individuals and put nutritious food into the hands of men, women, children and seniors threatened by homelessness and poverty. This year we're aiming for $150,000, but we can't do it without your help," said Cronier in a press release earlier this month.
People can take part by becoming fund-raising team captains, joining a team or volunteering. Other ways to help are by sponsoring this event or by donating directly to Squamish Helping Hands Society.
You can join a team or register your own team HERE. Those interested in volunteering their time or sponsoring the event can contact Cronier directly. Donations can be made online HERE.
"This is our second year taking part in the Coldest Night of the Year," said Cronier. "In 2024, Squamish was recognized nationally for its efforts and we can’t wait to show the country what this small town with a big heart can do the second time around."
