Buy BC: Snack Time

Writer: kc dyerkc dyer

Sweet or savoury, local producers are kicking up the flavour

If there's one thing that we can all agree on: Canadians make delicious snacks.

Poutine might be getting a lot of love lately, but other great snacks can be found closer to home, as well. Check out all these BC-born beauties!

Savouries:

In our Buy BC Breakfast article, we referenced Nature's Path cereal manufacturers who also produce Que Pasa Organic Tortilla Chips,

Hard Bite was founded in 1998. Their chips are made in Surrey, BC, in the only potato chip plant in the province. They also produce the wonderful Poptastic popcorn in four "slappin" flavours.

In addition to their vast variety of vegetarian and vegan South Asian entree options, (and the best frozen pakoras out there) IndianLife out of Burnaby offers a wide range of snack options from Mumbai Mix to Masala Peas.

Sweets:

Vancouver's Purdy's Chocolatier needs no further introduction, satisfying sweet teeth since 1907.

Bliss Balls are yummy vegan, gluten-free energy orbs made in Burnaby.

Chocxo, out of Richmond, focus on low sugar, organic dark chocolate treats.

Even closer to home, Chiwis is a woman-owned company in Squamish that features fruit chips featuring apple, kiwi, orange and chocolate-drizzled varieties.

And for organic chocolate in all its delicious varieties, don't forget Denman Island Chocolate.
