Buy BC: Breakfast Time

Writer: kc dyerkc dyer

Local companies bring home the bacon

The next level up the food rung from buying directly from farmers is local manufacturers.

Local bakeries can be found in every municipality, including Red Couch Bakery which got its' start right here in Lions Bay, but now bakes the world's best pies out of a kitchen in North Vancouver. Also nearby:

Flour Bakery in Horseshoe Bay

The Bakehouse on Marine Drive in Dundarave

Savary Island Pie Company on Marine in Ambleside

Sunflower Bakery on Cleveland Avenue in Squamish

TallTree Bakery on Commercial Way in Squamish

The breakfast products listed below can be found at your local grocery stores, but they all started here in British Columbia.

Brightside Foods is women-owned and operates out of Commercial Drive in Vancouver, offering breakfast burritos and pockets you can store in your freezer.

Happy Planet: The company has been headquartered in Burnaby BC since 1984, with production in both BC and Ontario. Happy Planet Organic Orange Juice is made with Valencia oranges sourced from Mexico.

Nature's Path is a family-owned company, founded in Vancouver in 1985. In addition to their wide range of breakfast cereals, they also oversee Envirokidz cereals, Love Crunch granola, Que Pasa tortilla chips, Anita's Organic Mill and Love Child.
