Highway North of Lions Bay fully blocked
A massive mudslide rocketed down the bottom of Magnesia Creek by Crystal Falls Road at about 10 a.m. today, taking out a small bridge above the highway and closing Highway 99 in both directions.
Capilano Highways is reporting on social media that many resources will be required for clean-up, and authorities are asking people to stay away from the highway.
Alertable says the landslide is between Lions Bay Avenue and Brunswick Beach road, and notes the highway is closed in both directions for an indefinite amount of time.
Updates to follow as the situation develops.
